Learn all the tips, tricks, and techniques from experienced Kumihimo instructors. You can make your own beautiful beaded necklace!
Kumihimo is the Japanese art of braiding. Originally used to braid lacing for the Samurais’ armor, today it is a popular jewelry making technique. WARNING: KUMIHIMO IS VERY ADDICTIVE. It’s fast, easy, and fun!
In the “Essential Kumihimo” class you’ll learn how to do a round spiral braid using 8 cords with beads. Some students will finish the project in class and others will finish at home, but everyone will learn the essential finishing technique of binding off. Proper gluing technique will be demonstrated.
This class is designed with the beginner in mind. No previous kumihimo experience is required; however, previous experience with general arts & crafts is very helpful and increases the likelihood that you’ll finish the necklace in class.
